This year I will turn 50. I feel great. And because I hope to live to at least 100, I know that I'm only halfway through what has been a really good life ("pfth, pfth, pfth"). It has got me thinking about time though, in particular, just how dang fast it all goes by.
My husband and I were in a neighborhood coffee shop in Seattle over the weekend, and I overheard the two young ladies who worked there talking about the weekend. The one said, "I wish this weekend were already next weekend". Wow! It has been a good long while since I have wanted to speed up the hands of time that fast.
It got me thinking how slow time moved when I was younger. Remember the year between your 15th and 16th birthday, when you would get your driver's license? That year took forever. Or waiting until you turned 21 so you could legally drink, forever. Now I think the last 10 years went by faster than those single years.
I wanted to say to that young lady, "oh don't wish it all to speed up that much, it all goes by so fast anyway". But didn't someone say that to me once or twice along the way, and did I pay attention??
OK, I'm paying attention now.
